As part of our post-16 offer, our satellite provision, Blossom is based in Huddersfield town centre on the 2nd floor of the Byram Arcade.  Founded in 2023 by our headteacher, Adrian Sugden, alongside Kirklees local authority, Blossom bridges the gap between classroom learning and the world beyond school.  Blossom provides an invaluable learning experience for our pupils to develop their expertise in many areas of work skills– enterprise, development, marketing, display and customer relations to name a few!  These experiences help them build independence, confidence, communication skills, and a sense of pride in their achievements.  As we are right in the town centre, we have fostered links with other local businesses to support wider work experiences and can regularly be found developing our understanding of navigating a town centre environment, including undertaking travel training.  Blossom also has its own kitchen facilities for pupils to learn the life skills of budgeting, shopping, preparing and cooking food for themselves and others.

Every step towards further independence is supported by staff who understand the needs, strengths, and individuality of each pupil.

Our shop also plays an important role within the wider community. By being visible on the high street, Blossom invites the public to experience the value of inclusion firsthand. We aim to build awareness, encourage understanding, and create a space where everyone is welcomed and respected.

Blossom is not just a place where work skills are learnt — it’s a place where our pupils grow, connect, and discover what they can achieve. We are proud to be part of their journey and proud to share that journey with our community.
