Most pupils at Woodley School are eligible to be considered for local authority school transport.

Who can get school transport?

Children with an EHCP may be able to receive transport:

• regardless of distance, and
• where their needs mean they cannot safely walk to school, even with an adult.

Applying for transport

Parents and carers need to complete a travel assistance application form. Sharing information about your child’s:

• medical needs
• behaviour
• sensory needs
• care plans

This information helps the travel team plan the safest and most appropriate support.

How transport works

• Transport is usually provided at the start and end of the normal school day.
• Pick‑up and drop‑off is normally from one set location, usually home.
• Some children may have a Passenger Assistant, depending on their needs.
• All transport staff are DBS checked and safeguarding trained.

Different types of support

Support might include:

• a minibus or taxi
• mileage payments
• personal travel budgets
• independent travel training (where appropriate)

The travel team will work with families to find the best solution for each child.

What happens next?

Once an application is sent in:

• it is assessed by the local authority travel team
• parents are contacted with the outcome
• if approved, transport or other support is arranged
